Tell us about The Raw Office.
The Raw Office is the most efficient way to buy your office supplies. We help businesses save money and be more eco-friendly. We are using artificial intelligence and big data to make recommendations for businesses to simplify their procurement, save time, save money, and reduce mistakes. The nice bonus is an environmental improvement with more eco-friendly products.
What made you decide to found The Raw Office? Why was it the right time?
I was a supplier to Staples, Office Depot and Office Max for several years and I got to see first hand all of the problems, inefficiencies, and frustrations inside the current industry. I said to myself there’s got to be a better more effective way for business to buy supplies–one that focuses on a triple bottom line that takes care of the people and the planet, as well as satisfies financial goals.
I believe that if businesses act as a force for good, we could make a huge impact on the planet and we can affect positive change across the world. How do we accomplish that? With every purchase, we vote with our wallets and we are either voting for a positive or negative impact.
Tell us about the type of clients you work with.
The Raw Office helps any and all businesses that want to save time, save money, simplify and improve their eco-performance. We work with hundreds of small and large companies in the Canadian and USA markets.
What sets your company apart from competitors?
The Raw Office is a VIP, curated, customized, unique experience for every business. The Raw Office has an easy to use procurement platform that takes less than 30 seconds for order processing. Most websites that you see today are a Browse-Shop-Add to Cart-Checkout program which is a time-consuming error-prone process. Additionally, it is hard to integrate into your accounting software. Best of all, we are completely carbon neutral and we help businesses achieve on average a 200% eco-friendly improvement and have a financial savings of over 30%.
What successes have you seen?
We are growing astronomically with an increase of 254% this year alone and we see no signs of that slowing down any time soon. We have helped over 600 businesses simplify their supply chain, save money and improve their eco-performance.
What’s the most common misconception people have about your field?
The biggest misconception is how inefficient, expensive and ineffective the current systems are for purchasing office of supplies. Most businesses when they think about supplies, they ignore the amount of time that it takes to place an order and the amount of mistakes that are made and the resulting labor costs required to fix those mistakes. Also many don’t think about how long it takes to integrate the orders and get them into their accounting software.
We see many businesses that have multiple vendors and their office supply purchasing teams spend a lot of time looking for the best deals. Maybe they might be able to save a few pennies on some pens or some paper, but they burn hours looking for these deals and it all adds up. They then spend hours fixing the mistakes that are inevitable in the current systems, and their accounting people spend hours doing integrations. It is super costly to do business this way. Imagine if you’ve got hundreds of employees or thousands of employees and they’re each doing this across multiple vendors? That amounts to hours searching, hours purchasing, hours fixing mistakes and time integrating this all into the accounting software. If this is multiplied across multiple locations it adds up to hundreds of thousands of dollars, if not millions, across the lifetime of the business.
We believe that it doesn’t have to be this way. With the Raw Office we help businesses save money, save time, be eco friendly and simplify. This is a real win-win-win.
What’s one piece of advice you have for your clients?
Less is more.
So many businesses have too many suppliers, buy too many items, and do purchasing across too many decentralized decision-makers across all of their locations. It may sound like a really good New Age business concept to empower the team to be independent and have no controls on the buying, but from a purchasing efficiency and cost viability perspective, it is very costly, risky and time consuming.
